QUIET BY DESIGN
Lennox products undergo extensive testing to ensure they perform at the high standard the company demands. In order to make heat pumps and air conditioners some of the quietest ones available, they include necessary features to dampen the sounds these devices typically make. With such things as insulated compressor compartments, compressor wrapper and patented fan designs, Lennox has been able to create these heating and cooling units to have a lower audible output.
AIR CONDITIONER SOUND: UNDERSTANDING DECIBELS
Not sure how to know how to rate what decibel level is too high? Let’s put it in comparison. The loudest speaker that exists can emit sounds up to 182 decibels. That is enough to shatter nearby car windows. Gunfire and fireworks are about 150 dB. Heavy traffic is about 85. And the rustling of leaves is only about 20 dB.
Many air conditioning units are hard to ignore. With decibel levels in the 70s or 80s, they can make outdoor conversation near them difficult. Imagine trying to have a conversation next to heavy traffic.
Many of the Lennox products installed by our skilled Fenix Heating and Cooling team can be expected to run at levels below 70 decibels. In fact, the Lennox XC25 air conditioner which was engineered with SilentComfort™ technology runs so quietly that it can register as low as 59 decibels! The SLP98V gas furnace from Lennox is the quietest and efficient furnace you can buy with decibel levels 10 times quieter than comparable furnaces.
